I’ll tell you what happened to mortgage rates this morning, after the report on first-time claims for weekly state unemployment benefits was released. The expectation had been for a decline of ten thousand new filings. The general idea is that most employers do not fire people just before Christmas.
With December 25th falling on a Friday this year, the financial markets will close early on this Christmas Eve and no trading activity will take place until Monday, December 28th.
